![]() Without a doubt the greatest part of our month at Sunriver was working with the staff. I was very impressed with the organization, and quality of service being so far away from a kitchen. This program was a little different for me as the resort was catering our offsite dinners. We had a few special dietaries, and the remarks on the quality of food of those special plates were very high. We had many compliments on the food as well. Our guests really enjoyed the resort and all the things to do! A few guests said it was like camp for adults as well as for their children. I have so many wonderful things to say about this resort. It is unfortunate since we've always had good meals at the other locations. This is the second time we've eaten in the Sunriver location and the second time we've been very disappointed. The cook forgot to add anything with flavor. Just wrapped, watery, tasteless meat swimming in a tasteless red sauce. Served with rice and beans) had ZERO flavor. Topped with red sauce and Monterey cheese. The second main, a Baja Burrito (Flour tortilla filled with your choice of chicken or shredded beef. The salad (a taco salad with beef) was made with iceberg lettuce and not much else. Had we not been so hungry, we would have left. The salad and the second main were horrible. The appetizer and one of the mains were just fine. They arrived in a reasonable amount of time just about when we were finishing our second basket of chips. We ordered an appetizer, a salad and two main courses. ![]() After that the waitress disappeared and we had to go find the manager to find her to place our order. We got our chips and salsa immediately along with water. We went for a late lunch, around 2pm and were seated immediately. However, this is the second time we've eaten at Hola's Sunriver location and this is the second time it was terrible. We have eaten at all of their other locations and have enjoyed the food, service and drink. The atmosphere is casual, a bit noisy and stuffy (no ventilation by the windows), but it was nice to watch the paddlers stroking back on the Deschutes river at the end of the day. I inquired and was told this was a Mexican version of flan. It was unlike any flan I've ever had anywhere, not custard but a chocolate cake-ish thing with lighter topping, like a flourless chocolate cake. The "flan" for dessert, however, was not. We both ordered from the Peruvian menu (why have refried, mashed beans when you can have fresh fish or meat?) and we were amazed by the artistic plate of ahi tuna and two kinds of potato - yellow and purple. Since the restaurant specializes in Peruvian cuisine, I ordered the pisco sour. They have 24 tequilas to choose from neat, and a large number of mixed drinks (8 margaritas alone). We were not expecting the quality of the bar offerings and the food at this by-the-river casual restaurant.
